Other WWII battlefield sims are fought entirely on foot - once people get to know the maps, their hiding spots and how to fortify and hold an area, the games tend to get predictable. Most of the maps are a sniper's paradise, and unlike the franchise's WWII-based games, in This adds a whole new element to the game - rather than head-on attacks, stealth becomes very important. Gone are the relatively barren battlefields and bombed-out towns of Europe, replaced by dense jungle, rice paddies, ramshackle villages and ravaged cities. It's an incredible experience to be involved in a pitched battle with up to 64 people playing simultaneously on-line through the Internet. Vietnam's single player mode is entertaining, with an average AI running the show, but the multiplayer option is where the game excels. The game uses the successful formula of its WWIIīattlefield titles, but dresses them up with Vietnam-era technology and settings. It just hasn't made a whole lot of advances beyond the originalīattlefield series in terms of the game engine and graphics system, which I'd expected upon hearing the franchise was coming out with it's first sequel, rather than just an add-on for the original game. This is a good all-around shooter, and one of the best action games for large groups (up to 64 simultaneous players).
